  • History of Environmental Pest Management, Inc.

    Environmental Pest Management, Inc. was started by Jim Rice in 1974, as Rice Exterminating Company. Through the years, with the advancement of technology, training, and environmental, health and safety concerns, exterminators have evolved into Pest Management Professionals. In 2000, the company incorporated the business and changed its name to Environmental Pest Management, Inc (formerly Environmental Pest Control). In 2002, Jim's son, Jeff, joined the business full-time after graduating from IUP with a degree in business management. 

    In 2014 Environmental Pest Management celebrated its 40th year in business!
     
    In 2016, Jeff Rice received the nationally-recognized distinction of being an Associate Certified Entomologist.
     
    In 2017, Jeff Rice became the new owner of Environmental Pest Management, Inc., succeeding his father, Jim, as the second-generation owner of the family-operated business.  Jim fully retired in 2018 and still occasionally stops in the office to see what is new and to check in on customers.
     
    In 2019, Environmental Pest Management celebrated its 45th year in business! 
     
    In 2021, Jeff Rice and Josh Barber attained their permitting from the Pennsylvania Game Commission as Nuisance Wildlife Control Operators.  After extensive studies and an exam on the biology, life history, and habits of pertinent wildlife, control methods, euthanasia, laws and regulations, and diseases and parasites, the certified agents now allow the company to provide select wildlife control services to their customers in the Indiana area.  This includes, but is not limited to: Squirrels, Opossums, Chipmunks, Skunks, Groundhogs, Moles, Raccoons, Birds, and others.
     
    In 2021, Environmental Pest Management was selected as the reader's choice gold ribbon winner for best pest control by the Indiana Gazette readers!  
     
    In 2022, Environmental Pest Management was selected for the 2nd year is a row as the reader's choice gold ribbon winner for best pest control by the Indiana Gazette readers!
     
    In 2023, EPM moved their offices to a larger location at 262 Airport Rd., Indiana, PA!  The new offices allow for more growth and expansion and easier access for customers.  The office is located right next door to the Jimmy Stewart Airport main entrance.  Stop in and say hello!
     

    Environmental Pest Management, Inc. is an accredited business, belonging to both the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association and the National Pest Management Association.

    All of the employees of Environmental Pest Management, Inc. are licensed pest control professionals.

    Environmental Pest Management, Inc. gives back to the community by supporting organizations including Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Indiana County Head Start, Salvation Army, Indiana Lions Club, Indiana Basketball Boosters, Indiana Ice Hockey, Indiana Soccer Boosters, Indiana Wrestling Boosters, Indiana County YMCA, Indiana Little League, Indiana Free Library, and many other worthy organizations and charities.

  • Jeff Rice, ACE - Owner

    Jeff joined the family business in 2002 after graduating from IUP.  He has taken over as owner of the business and has attained the nationally-recognized distinction of being an Associate Certified Entomologist.  Jeff also holds a Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator permit issued by the PA Game Commission.  A life-long resident of Indiana, he takes pride in his ability to provide outstanding service and maintain his reputation as the "go to guy" for pest control in Indiana.  As a published author, you can read about his Entomological Consulting Projects here.  

  • Josh Barber

    Josh was born and raised in Indiana, graduated from IUP, and currently resides in Indiana Borough.  Josh has been with the company since 2016, and is known for his organization and attention to detail.  He is also licensed by the state of Pennsylvania as a Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator.  Josh also holds a Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator permit issued by the PA Game Commission.       

  • Jordan Hall

    Jordan has returned to EPM after working at another job in the area.  He brings his previous knowledge and friendliness back to serve customers with EPM.  He is looking forward to continuing his training and experience in other facets of the business.  Jordan resides in Ernest with his wife and 3 children.

  • Nichole Rice

    Nichole is Jeff's wife and mother of their 3 beautiful children.  She is a graduate of IUP and brings to EPM almost 20 years of office experience.

  • Diane McCombie

    Diane is a long-time resident of Indiana, and brings to EPM over 30 years of office experience.  Her friendly voice and jovial personality make her a great asset to the company.  Diane is Nichole's mother, and currently resides in Indiana with her husband and their dog Maggie.

  • Jim Rice

    Jim Rice started Environmental Pest Management, Inc in 1974 in Indiana, PA.  Jim recently retired after 44 years, and continues to provide his services in a consulting role.

      Everyone I've spoken with has been extremely helpful and went above and beyond to answer any questions I've had! I called them at 830 in the morning and they were at my place by 2 the same day. Highly impressed!

      We've used EPM for years helping with ants that come into the house in the winter months. We've been lucky to have Josh come each time we have called them. Josh know the house and already knew what needed to be done. He's a total professional. Great knowledge of his trade. Great customer service skills. Plus they were able to get Josh to us the next day after we called. I could not recommend EPM more highly. Thank you again for your help.

      I called and they made time that day. Took care of our pest problem with 1 visit. Very knowledgeable and professional. They explained what would happen and if what was done didn't remedy the issue to call in but assured us it would be taken care of by the next morning. It was taken care of that evening.
